International Women’s Day & Beyond

Posted on
March 29, 2022

#BreaktheBias

“Imagine a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.”

StarterStudio is busy celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) and March as National Women’s History Month. What a time to revel in the rich history and accomplishments of women.

It is natural for us, as the only nonprofit tech accelerator in Central Florida, to reflect on the particular contributions of StarterStudio’s women stakeholders as tech leaders, tech supporters, and entrepreneurs.

From our founding in 2013, women have led from the front of the ramparts to enable, encourage, and elevate women as tech entrepreneurs and leaders in our local economic engine.

Our short history is full of stories of the women who helmed StarterStudio as executive directors and board members. The number of women who participated in our accelerator programs over the years continues to grow, as do their accomplishments as founders of tech companies.

Women have also made significant impacts on the growth and sustainability of StarterStudio, whether as sponsors, donors, or mentors. Central Florida is filled with accomplished business owners, tech executives, nonprofit and government leaders and, guess what, many (but not enough just yet!) are women.

This month, we celebrate the idea and practice of the #BreaktheBias hashtag of International Women’s Day held March 8, 2022, and the entire month of March as National Women’s History Month.

In keeping with these themes, we also celebrate by introducing three women who are joining the StarterStudio board.

Please help us welcome to our board, Dr. Stephanie Miller, PhD, MBA, the Executive Director of Technology Transfer and Research Park Initiatives at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Additionally, Renuka Sastri, joins our board as she continues in her role of Chair at the 100 Women Strong organization that is part of Central Florida Foundation. Ms. Sastri works as well as a Senior Professional On Call for Orange County (Florida) government and is a member of the Orlando Tech Council.

Last and certainly not least, we are pleased and proud to welcome Shari Dingle Costantini to the StarterStudio board. Currently, she is Managing Partner of Ascendancy Partners, LLC, and has a long history as a successful entrepreneur.

Please return here as we post more information about these three new board members and the talents they bring to our board.
